6 Maine Essentials for the Year 2024

6 Maine things you need for 2024

#1: A 2024 Calendar from Kristina O’Brien

Start every day off with a little bit of Maine beauty no matter where you are. Kristina captures the beauty of the Maine coast especially when water, wind and light are at their most interesting.

Currently available in-person in our Portland location. But we’re happy to transport to Bath for local pick up or ship to you!

#2: Write down your goals and motivations for 2024

Nothing starts the year off better than a blank journal and a fresh pen dedicated to writing your goals for the upcoming year.

Blank and lined journals from Purplebean Bindery are available in our Bath location and are made from smooth and heavy paper so it will hold up to serious mark making; the binding is hand-sewn without the use of glue, so it’s both decorative and highly functional; the rigid cloth covers will hold up to travel, use and love.

David specializes in making fun and unique pens like the Crushed Lobster Shell pens seen here. He also makes them with crushed mussel shells, Maine woods and Maine wildflowers.

#3: Keep your hands warm

Made from reclaimed wool and cashmere sweaters and fun fleece patterns these mittens are not only cozy comfy but they are also WARM!

#4: Stay moisturized during
the rough Maine winter

The soothing hydration cream by Marin is unlike any other moisturizer we’ve encountered. AND it’s made with lobster glycoproteins…. wait… what?
Marine Glycoproteins are naturally abundant, regenerative proteins found in lobster, which are highly involved in their ability to fight off disease, heal wounds and regenerate limbs making them incredibly multi-faceted for skin barrier nourishment, soothing and repairing.

This year the Marin team introduced their lip treatments made with the same glycoproteins generated by lobsters. It protects lips, seals in moisture to leave skin quenched and refreshed like a glass of ice cold water for your lips. It’s available in Unscented and Blueberry French Toast (and smells just like it!) We’re proud to be one of the few stores selling their lip treatments and you can find them in Bath and Portland.

#5: Enhance your skincare with Goat Milk Soap

Goat milk is full of vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, AHAs, and triglycerides that work to nourish, moisturize, gently exfoliate, and rebuild your skin barrier—all with one ingredient.

Goat milk is nourishing because it is loaded with vitamins A, B, C & D as well as protein, calcium, potassium and magnesium.

Goat milk is gentle because it has a pH level that is closest to that of our skin. The lactic acid found in the milk gently exfoliates dead skin cells and helps to brighten skin tone.

Goat milk is moisturizing because it contains triglycerides (fats) and its short-strand protein structure allows it to be easily absorbed into the skin.

#6: Boost your natural nutrient intake

Why drink Seaweed teas?
They’re good for YOU!
Seaweeds contain minerals vital to human health, including iodine, potassium, calcium, magnesium, manganese and phosphorous, plus trace elements like chromium, vanadium and boron. They also provide vitamins (A, Bs, C, E, K), omega-3s, omega-6s, essential amino acids and antioxidants. They taste good too!
They’re good for MAINE!
Cup of Sea is a Maine-owned start-up that works with local seaweed harvesters, farmers, designers, cafes and grocers whenever possible. Thanks for supporting Maine jobs!
