Unity Pond Pottery has been with Lisa-Marie’s Made in Maine since before we even opened doors on Front Street. Robert and Wendy Esposito are self-taught potters. After graduating college with a degree in engineering, Robert found his passion in clay. He has been working as a potter since 1971 with studios in New Jersey, Virgin Islands and New Mexico.
In 1985, he and Wendy, a Unity native, opened Unity Pond Pottery. They work together creating original Maine made folk art pottery using techniques such as wheel throwing, pressing and hand building. High fired stoneware clay is used and then fired to 2300 degrees F. They have a working studio and retail showroom which is open to the public. Visitors may view demonstrations of the work in progress.
Each piece is individually created and signed by the self-taught potters in their Unity working studio. There are no two exactly alike! Many pieces are hand-carved. All glazes are lead free and all pots are microwave, dishwasher and oven safe. From beer steins, to brie bakers, and chip n’ dips to mixing bowls, Unity Pond Pottery has got it all.
