Ready for any weather, these colorful and durable lobster rope baskets are woven from Maine float-rope that once tethered lobster traps together on the ocean floor. To protect the Northern Right Whale and other sea creatures, who often became ensnared in the floating rope, fishermen switched to heavier sink-rope. Hundreds of thousands of pounds of float-rope was destined for Maine landfills until the idea of weaving them together into useful products came to light.
Thus, this v and many other items were created. This one measures approximately 9″ tall x 10″ wide x 12″ tall with handle. They are durable and resistant to mold, mildew, salt water, sun, and insects. They float and dry quickly which makes them great for your boat. Lisa-Marie’s carries a variety of sizes. Lisa-Marie’s also carries mats made of the float rope. The mats and baskets come in numerous colors and no two are ever the same.
