The Chrysanthemum Dish is a ceramic grater named for the pattern formed by its cutters. It’s ideal for zesting or grating ginger root, garlic, hard cheeses and nutmeg, etc. and much easier to clean than metal graters. A little liquid from your recipe poured in the grater is especially helpful in lifting your zest giving you practically all the zest for your recipe. A brush may also be used to remove the contents of the grater. The dish is ideal for preparing dipping oils for breads or flavorful soy sauces for sushi and may be hung as a decorative piece when not in use. Dishwasher safe.
Put a few fresh herb leaves in the dish with a pinch of salt. Grate a couple cloves of garlic over them, crushing & tearing the herbs to release the flavors. Add olive oil and balsamic vinegar and you’re ready to dip. You’ve dirtied one dish while taking advantage of all the flavorful oils left behind on the grater.
