The Beach Waves Lobster Rope Doormat is made from reclaimed, recycled lobster float-rope!
Ready for any weather, these colorful and durable lobster rope mats are woven from Maine float-rope that once tethered lobster traps together on the ocean floor. To protect the Northern Right Whale and other sea creatures, who often became ensnared in the floating rope, fishermen switched to heavier sink-rope. Hundreds of thousands of pounds of float-rope was destined for Maine landfills until the idea of weaving them together into useful products came to light.
Enter Lisa-Marie’s colorful rope mats – a pretty, practical and amazing recycling outlet, giving a second life to hundreds of thousands of pounds of float-rope, and keeping it out of Maine landfills. These mats are durable and resistant to mold, mildew, saltwater, sun, and insects. They float and dry quickly which makes them great for your boat. No two are ever the same due to the supply of the various rope colors, but that leaves room for creative combinations and unique options.
