Ready for any weather, these colorful and durable lobster rope doormats are woven from Maine float-rope that once tethered lobster traps together on the ocean floor. To protect the Northern Right Whale and other sea creatures, who often became ensnared in the floating rope, fishermen switched to heavier sink-rope. Hundreds of thousands of pounds of float-rope was destined for Maine landfills until the idea of weaving them together into useful products came to light.
Thus, this blue skies lobster rope doormat and many other items were created. This one measures approximately 24″ x 36″. They are durable and resistant to mold, mildew, salt water, sun, and insects. They float and dry quickly which makes them great for your boat. Lisa-Marie’s carries a variety of sizes and colors, as well as baskets made of the same material. No two are ever the same due to the supply of the various rope colors, but that leaves room for creative combinations and unique options.
