I am a fiber artist and I make felt. I discovered felting in 2015 when I was recovering from a leg injury and wanted to craft while stuck on the couch. I have been a life-long “maker” and wanted to try something new. I discovered an on-line photo of a felted gnome and made my first rudimentary (read very basic) ornament soon after. I was quickly hooked and became obsessed with how many different ways wool can be used to create beautifully colored fabric, paintings and objects. Turning fiber into art is magical.
I learned how to felt from a combination of YouTube videos, books and the generous advice of local and on-line fiber artists. I also took a few in-person classes and soon was over-run with gnome ornaments, paintings, scarfs, felted cats and people. My husband Kevin collaborates with me and creates wooden frames for the wet felted paintings. They perfectly compliment the beauty of the wool.
One day, I took a brave step (for me) and showed my creations to Lisa and her staff. To my great delight, I now sell my art exclusively in Lisa-Marie’s shops.
I have recently retired from a 42- year career as a nurse and work at my craft daily. I am grateful to have time and space to be a felter. I obtain my supplies locally and gather rocks, acorns, pine cones and other natural treasures from the woods and coast of our beautiful state.
I love the magic of felting and take great pleasure in bringing a little bit of joy to my customers.
