2021 Awards - Thank you! - Lisa-Marie's Made in Maine

2021 Awards – Thank you!

What a year 2021 has been! We thought anything would be easier than 2020 but this year has brought its own challenges. If there is one thing we’ve learned it’s that if we stick together and focus on the positive there is always something to be celebrated! We are still in business and still providing people with work from the finest Maine Makers, we have our health, and we’re excited for a busy holiday season. But there are also a few other things to celebrate…

DownEast Best of Maine

For the second year in a row, we were voted the Best Gift Shop for the 2021 Best of Maine by DownEast readers and our amazing community of customers and Makers. Thank you to all who voted for us! We’ll do our best to earn your vote again next year. 😉

2021 Maine
Family Business
Award Finalist

We had a few different people nominate us for the 2021 Maine Family Business Award and though we didn’t win this year we are so humbled to have been chosen as a Finalist.

Spirit of Bath Award

The Economic Vitality Committee chose Lisa-Marie and Andy as the recipients of this award for strengthening the Bath district’s exiting economic base while finding ways to expand it to meet new opportunities and challenges from outlying developments. Special thanks to Bill King for the nomination!

2021 Maine Retailer of the Year

Back in early 2020, Marissa and I (Marie) sneakily nominated Lisa-Marie’s Made in Maine as Retailer of the Year and worked hard on an application from the Retail Association of Maine that included testimonials from some of our Makers as well as some of our team members. We’re lucky to work with such amazing people and wanted to share some of their kind words about Lisa-Marie and our family business.

I met Lisa-Marie Stewart 25 years ago at a craft show when we were both raising little kids and creating our own small craft businesses. Lisa-Marie began helping to direct craft shows in the area and she was good at it. She eventually decided that she would open her own store and promote fellow Maine crafters in a year-round location.   Lisa-Marie knows the craft industry and has helped countless Maine artisans and crafters get their products to market. Lisa-Marie’s Made in Maine became one of my best sales locations and has been for 17 years. My friend Lisa-Marie, her right-hand man, Andy, and daughter Marie have established a thriving Maine business supporting Maine artisans state-wide!

I met Lisa Marie at her business about 17 years ago. I had started making necklaces out of Sand Dollars and she was the first shop I approached about selling them. She was so welcoming and helpful to me then and continues to be now. She is a role model and someone I look up to as a mother, an artist, and a local business owner. My daughters were barely 1 & 2 when I first went into her Bath shop. She not only encouraged me as an artist but my daughters as well. Dory, my oldest who is almost 19 now and off enjoying her freshman year of college made Dog leashes out of my recycled lobster trap wrap and sold them at her shop. She would splice the rope and add the clips~ they were loved by many especially Lisa Marie. Dory moved on from that business to running her own lobster business. Lisa Marie is like family to us, and has watched my girls grow just like I have enjoyed watching her children grow into amazing adults. I cannot say enough about how wonderful Lisa Marie is as and how grateful I am to her for helping me make my business a success.

Thanks to the pesky pandemic, lots of events were cancelled in 2020, including the award for Retailer of the Year. So, in September of 2021 when Amy and Curtis reached out to me saying that we were selected for 2021, I was over the moon. This was also the first time that they had an insider to help make the award a surprise for the recipients. So we plotted and planned and arranged a time for them to come to our Bath location to surprise Lisa-Marie and Andy.

Only a few members of our team knew about the award and it was such a joy to be a part of such a well-deserved surprise for Lisa-Marie and Andy. Read the press release here.

Thanks to the Retail Association of Maine for choosing us and for all the hard work that they do to support Maine’s businesses and inspiring economic development.

We are grateful to have received so much recognition these past few months and we couldn’t do it without our amazing family of employees and the talented and creative Maine Makers we work with. We also are grateful for the support of the City of Bath, Main Street Bath, Portland Downtown and the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce. It is organizations like these that keep our wonderful cities running and creating wonderful places for people to visit from near and far. We are grateful to exist in these communities and look forward to providing Mainers and “people from away” with unique, quality, Maine Made products for many years to come.
